The family and me (I have the dark hair) in London (where it is also foggy) in August 2010

Welcome to Kashkawan!

"Kashkawan" means "it is foggy" in Algonquin. It's also a fictional village in the Hudson Highlands; many of my stories are set at least partially in Kashkawan.

On a clear day, you may be able to see forever, but when it's foggy? That's when the really interesting things become visible.

My name is Luisa Perkins. I mostly write speculative fiction, but I've also had many essays published, along with a cookbook. I've been married for 27 years to Patrick, an absolute prince of a man. For many years, we lived with our six lovely children and an insane cat in a tiny town on the east bank of the Hudson River. We moved to another small town near Pasadena, California in the summer of 2012. Goldberry, our cat, has passed from this realm, and we now have a darling Pembroke Welsh Corgi called Moneypenny.

Other than writing, my passions include reading, knitting, cooking, eating, and singing.
